Because good spelling is an indication of forethought, planning, insight, and intelligence. When you misspell words, it suggests either that you haven't taken the time to care about your reader, you don't truly care about your message, or both.

Spelling is a building block of language.
Language is used for communication.
Incorrect spelling can therefore change the meaning of the question, as well as for the answer.
They're? There? Their?
Two? To? Too?
I know that schools no longer mark off for spelling errors, but phonics just doesn't cut it when you are conveying a critical point. Poor spelling is the mark of a lazy student who struggles in several areas of communication.
And these days, there is really no excuse for poor spelling.

Because if you can't spell it makes you look stupid. Granted, that's not accurate in many cases but this world is all about appearances now.Besides which, as some people have said, there is spell check; how difficult is that?

There is spell check that makes correct spelling for those that are spelling challenged.

I think it's because it's ironic to ask a ? about why there are so many stupid christians and have alot of spelling errors

heh hee..I know, it is really silly. If you ever hear/see me complaining about bad spellers, it is a joke..I make typos and I spell wrong and all kind of other things too. So I am understanding.

They only really complain when the person is being offensive, and they'll especially complain when the person is calling other people dumb.
