The other day we adopted an 8 week old "sheep/lab" mix puppy from an animal shelter. Beautiful dog, beautiful, shiny coat. Excellent personality...she was surrendered by a previous owner two days before we got her. Anyway, my question is...how big will this dog get, in general? I mean, either way, we are keeping the animal...so size is not a problem at all. I was just wondering how big it might get. They just had "sheep/lab" mix on the tag for it. I'm sure, like many dogs...'sheepdogs' probably have several different breed types (some with longer fur, shorter fur, shorter legs, etc.) We asked the people there how big it might get, and nobody really knew (they'd never seen that breed before, apparently). We just got an answer of 'big'. I've searched online and can't seem to find any good pictures to see 'sheep/lab' mix dogs, to get a general idea. Maybe somebody out there has one of them? Anyway, thanks for whatever info you are able to give. :-)

The sheepdogs I'm thinking of tend to be a bit smaller than labs. I'm thinking maybe about 50 lbs or so. But of course you won't know until it grows up.

lol glad i read all there. i was wondering how you have a sheep/lab mix. i would guess anywhere from 60-90 lbs. sheepdogs tend to be bigger and taller than labs. but labs can be big dogs too. it depends on the parents of the lab and the sheepdog. plus the shelter might have just been guessing at the breed mix. your best bet is to ask your vet when you take the pup in for vaccines and a checkup and deworming. good luck with your new pup.

It's hard to tell when they are that young, but by his head shape and ears...he looks like an American Bulldog and the muzzle...boxer. I would say AB/Boxer mix It's likely that people will call your dog a pit bull whether it is a pit or not. Most people are uneducated and have no idea how to tell the difference between bully breeds. My doggies get discriminated against everyday, but they also get lots of love on the street because they are well behaved and friendly. So most important is to train your pup the best you can and show people what a great dog you have. Have fun with your new puppy...he's really cute!

There is actually no posititve way to know for sure about how large/big a mix dog will get. Purebred dogs you can tell based on the history of other dogs in their group; however, with mix it kind of hard to tell because the sizes are different and positive way.

Oh a catchy name for this mix is Sheprador. However if you would like to get an idea here is a link to a site where you can see some pictures:
