That is a common problem for people who do a lot of thermal styling. Here's some steps to help, using highest-quality, environmentally friendly Aveda salon products:
1.) avoid washing daily if possible
2.) use a gentle shampoo suitable for your hair color, blue malva is a good choice to brighten hair color. don't scrub ends. wash scalp--where the oil is--and just let the shampoo run down over the ends. the ends aren't the dirty part!
3.) use a deep conditioner, but don't place on scalp. place on ends then just run fingers gently over crown. otherwise, it will be weighed down. a deep conditioner will make flat ironing easier, too. good choice: deep penetrating conditioner.
4.) spray with damage control before drying, focus on ends
5.) dry gently--don't blast ends with dryer. dry scalp and brush downward. use a soft brush like a crown brush, not a cheap plastic ball-and-bristle brush.
6.) flat iron just as much as necessary. brushing hair often while drying will help keep it smooth so you don't have to iron so aggressively.
7.) use smoothing products afterwards--mixing a fingerfull of the whipped air effects product in the little blue tub with the smoothing serum, in a little blue pump (a squeeze or two will do) then smooth over hair.
8.) once a week or as needed, use a special treatment on ends, or leave in conditioner. this is trickier to find--see if you can get samples or use a friend's to find one that isn't too heavy to weigh down your hair. some make it lifeless. or, just use a few teaspoons of olive oil on the ends and let sit for 10-15 minutes before rinsing. Again, ends only or you will have a very oily scalp.
9.) never skip haircuts. every 4-6 weeks get a trim from a quality salon. trim--with shears--don't get a razor style.

well the good thing is u took the first step by trimming. when u have split ends ur hair will break off at the ends and can seem like it's not growing but it is. So now condition with a really good conditioner. You can even deep condition once a week. Get regular trims about 6-8 weeks. Hair grows 1/4 to 1/2 an inch a month. so if you trim 1/8 inch every six weeks it will still get longer. When you flat iron you need to use a product like Chi silk infusion or biosilk silk therapy to prevent burning the hair. These products act as a barrier and won't allow hair breakage unless you leave the iron on too long. If you want your hair to grow faster, you need to stimulate the scalp. massage or brush hair will bring blood to the surface which will make hair grow faster. Hope this helps

I am a stylist and I just have to say if you must flat iron your hair you should follow that up by using a serum to add some oils back into the hair plus it adds to your beautifully straightened hair on top of that... 2 times a week do a at home conditioning treatment my fav which works awesome is AG's Fastfood Conditioner put it all over your hair after shampoo comb it throu, put a plastic bag over your hair and leave it go do whatever around your place for 20 minutes or however long you want just remember to rinse it off lol. For further tricks to keep your hair great when your hair is wet never use a brush and start from the ends and work your way up for brushing when wet damages and rips the hair.
Hope that helps

I think the best thing is to stop using the flat iron. I know that may not be a good option for you, but I am running into the same problem. I can get my hair trimmed and within a week they are all back, its due to the heat.

quit straightening your hair or use a heat protectant on your hair like a leave in conditioner or something like that you may have to get your hair cut again because if the ends are frizzy then you have dead ends that are dryed out and you have to get those cut or you will have to cut more of your hair later to get rid of the dead ends

You should trim your hair every 4 to 6 week which will take care of the problem. there is a product called anti snap by Redken extreme line. you put it on after you shower and apply it to your damp hair before combing it out. it smells great and really is a great product.

attempt a distinctive variety of shampoo and conditioner. something solid inspite of the incontrovertible fact that. Like, bypass to a salon and get something. And if that would not artwork, get Aussie 3 minute miracle. That stuff does wonders on your hair. do not save slicing off the chop up ends, it is going to easily save getting worse.

I would advise to get your hair trimmed from a pro and then ask them what would be the best shampoo and conditioner to use to prevent them from coming back. After you find out I would love to hear your response..............

well for one it really kills your hair to straighten it everyday. if u have curly or wavy hair u should let it be natural one day and straight the other. switching on and off helps ur hair restore the moisture that it needs to stay healthy. if u NEED to straighten it...pomaide works well. u put that in your hair first, then straighten it. it adds moisture to it and keeps it looking healthy. but i really dont suggest straightening it everyday bc i see people who do that and it kills their hair and it doesnt even look good anymore
