Sunday Mass is not fun, but it is exciting, as Jesus Christ never fails to become truly and substantially present on the altar there, where he is worshipped and received by the entire congregation.
Mass is for penance, praise, worship, and communion.
Hang around afterwards for fellowship.
By the way, non-Catholics are always welcome at Mass, but, for a number of reasons, are not permitted to receive communion.

Do you like Magic? Like Mystery? Every been interested in secret societies with special rituals? You will love the Mass in ether the RC Church or Episcopal. We will not even tell you what it all means, but you can come see. Later when you want to know more, we will tell you and do a special initiation. After sundown on the eve of the first Sunday after the first full moon of Spring we will preform a special ceremony. It starts in darkness and a flame is kindled. People will read from ancient manuscripts the history of the world up until this night. This most holy night. ... and ... well you will see.. and something very special will happen to you ... and then you will be one of us... then you will know the mystery.
As to making friends. Both the RC and Epsicopal church, like most others, have youth groups that do fun things and go places. For us old folks we play cards and have picnics, parties of one kind or other, coffee house sing alongs, etc.

You may find this hard to believe, but the most amazing event in human history is presented again at each and every Mass. Jesus' sacrifice of His flesh and blood are offered again so that we may participate in that offering. Jesus is not re-crucified, but His one act of salvation is made available to all people throughout the world, down through the ages.
If you study read historical church documents from the first century and through every century to the present, you will see that this is the original teaching of Jesus and the apostles which has been taught thought the ages.
Please visit my website for more on this subject and many more doctrines of the early church.

i went to church once. The people were nice and caring, but we didn't really do anything fun. the pews were hard and in the pit of my stomach i knew i wasn't some where I belong. Are you going to church to find friends, or to find god? If you are looking for friends, you could...
go over and introduce your self to the neighbors.
talk to people at a coffee shop or bar.
take a class on your choice(swimming, art, dancing, etc) and hang out with the people there.
talk to people at school. (if you go)
talk to people at work (if you have a job)
