Toyota recalling Sequoia, Tundra models By KEN THOMAS, Associated Press Writer
Thu Jan 18, 7:26 PM ET

WASHINGTON - Toyota Motor Corp. said Thursday it was recalling 533,000 Tundra pickup trucks and Sequoia sport utility vehicles because of potential steering problems.

Toyota said the recall involved 2004-2006 Tundra trucks and 2004-2007 Sequoia full-size SUVs. The automaker has received reports of 11 accidents and six injuries connected to the recall, said Toyota spokesman Bill Kwong.

The automaker said there was a possibility of excessive wear to a front suspension lower ball joint that could make it difficult to steer the vehicle and stay in the center of the lane. Drivers may also notice more noise coming from the front suspension, Kwong said.

Toyota recalled about 775,000 pickups and SUVs in May 2005 — one of its largest recalls ever — because of similar problems with the front suspension. The recall included 2002-2004 model years of the Tundra and Sequoia.

Toyota's superior reliability is a myth. J.D. Powers says so. The initial quality ratings for Toyota are below Mercury and maybe even Lincoln.

As for Toyota putting customer first, that's nonsense, they just call them customer bulletins or some BS instead of recalls. That's why there's a big probe in Tokyo about Toyota covering up their quality flaws. It just so happens, the American news media likes to turn a blind eye to Toyota's flaws. Some of the best cars are still from Germany.

Recalls are an admission of a problem. The US auto makers fight recalls tooth and nail because it costs them money. Toyota is putting its customers first by fixing the problem rather than being in denial.... which is what the US auto makers have been in For about the past 30 years. They have watched auto makers from Japan take away their market share with high quality products and better fuel economy. Toyota will be the number one auto maker in the US and the world shortly and you can take that to the bank. Oh and by the way the Chevy prism was a Toyota corolla with a Chevy badge and it had the best reliability numbers of any product in the Chevy line. "Like a rock" the Chevy brand and GM will continue to fall.

Unfortunately American made cars tend to be less reliable than certain foriegn cars, such as Toyota. I used to drive a Chevy and I don't think I can count how many things when wrong with it that were very expensive to have fixed. Alternater broke, power steering went out, brake line deteriorated, etc. As soon as I can afford it I plan to buy a Toyota Highlander Hybrid. I think Ford is the worst of the American cars, though.

Wow... arn't you a clever one. One recall... how many recalls do you think Chevs had had? I'm not even going to get into it. Have fun when the repair bill for you Chev pick-ups fuel pump goes and you fork over around $1000.00.

If you paid attention to anything, my friend....The Toyota Camry is the #1 selling car (PERIOD!) for the last TEN YEARS! Get the facts straight. Have fun with your Chevy if you choose to.

Yeah i would always take a free recall over a broke down chevy at 60,000 miles and no resale value.

i'd rather have recalls that will be fixed for free, than a dead vehicle before hitting 150k miles.
