An itchy throat is definitely an allergic response. I am attaching a couple of links that explain everything about fruit allergies, from what causes it to how to avoid the reaction etc. There are additonal links to help once you get to the pages.

Hope this helps and take care!

Im allergic to honeydew melon-but not cantelope or any other types of melons. It makes my throat itch too. I never made the connection until I was about 30 years old. It seems to have gotten stronger as I get older.

Its not so bad, I like bananas and stuff, but like at buffets and partys when people have fruit bowls, where the fruit is all cut up, like from the store, well-its all got honey dew juice on it and I cant eat any of it, because its tainted with honey dew juice.

You can have a food allergy test done. Ask you Dr. If you do have food allergies, I would reccomend you find out what it is that your allergic to exactly. Lotions and things have some fruit stuff in them and it wouldn't be fun to put some on and then itch all over or have something worse happen.

you might be allergic to fruit, but it's unlikely that some1 is allergic to every type of fruit. It could just be the pollen in the seeds of the fruit, or if u didnt wash it, that can make a difference. if not, see a dr.

Do your lips itch too and the roof of your mouth? If you eat cooked fruit does it bother you, or is it only raw fruit. I used to be allergic to raw fruits and vegetables. They would make me itch right after I ate them. It is called oral allergy syndrome. After I was on allergy shots for five years, it went away.

Yeah, it could be a sensetivity. I'd talk to your doctor though. Being sensetive to something can cause problems, but if you're allergic, you might not show any major symtpoms (ex. itching the first 10 times you eat it), the allergy will get worse and worse each time you're exposed until it can cause major problems.

So get to your doctor to find out if it's anything to worry about.

Remember to wash your fruit thoroughly. I had an allergic reaction to celery because of a chemical that had been sprayed on it to keep it fresh. Even though I washed it!

Especially if you have asthma certain fruits and veggies can irritate your throat. Especially bananas and melons they contain certain allergens. It used to happen to me too. But I grew out of it because my asthma got better.
