Jesus informed them that soon he would no longer be with them in the flesh. (John 14:28; 16:28) But he assured them: “I will request the Father and he will give you another helper to be with you forever.” (John 14:16) The promised helper is God’s holy spirit. It would teach them deep things of the Scriptures and bring back to their minds what Jesus had taught them during his earthly ministry.
How can the holy spirit help us today? Well, the Bible is God’s inspired Word. The men who were used to utter prophecies and to write the Bible “were borne along by holy spirit.” (2 Peter 1:20, 21) Our studying the Scriptures and applying what we learn gives us knowledge, wisdom, understanding, insight, discernment, and thinking ability. Are we then not better prepared to face the pressures of the wicked world?
The holy spirit is a helper in yet another way. God’s holy spirit is a powerful force for good, enabling those under its influence to display godly qualities. “The fruitage of the spirit is love, joy, peace, long-suffering, kindness, goodness, faith, mildness, self-control,” says the Bible. Are these not the very qualities we need in order to conquer fleshly inclinations toward immorality, strife, jealousy, fits of anger, and the like?
This promise was fulfilled at Pentecost 33 C.E, the holy spirit poured out at Pentecost accomplished many things for the early Christians. But Jesus promised that “the spirit of the truth” would ‘bring back to their minds all the things he had told them.’ (John 14:26) It would enable them to remember Jesus’ ministry and teachings, even his very words, and put these into writing. This would be especially helpful to the aged apostle John at the end of the first century C.E. when he set about writing his Gospel. That account includes the counsel Jesus gave when he instituted the Memorial of his death.

That greek word, "periqlytos" means helper. It is refering to the Holy Spirit. The Spirit of Truth. Jesus was the teacher at that time but He could only be in one place at one time. Which was great for those who were directly around Jesus or in the same city, but not for others who could not be with Him. So He left so that the Holy Spirit could be with all believers at the same time. The Holy Spirit helps us with out weaknesses and communicates to us what God the Father is saying to us individually. He helps us understand the Word Of God.

Jesus meant that the Father would send the Holy Spirit to the Church, and that He would remain with them forever. The Holy Spirit, of course, had always been active in the world from creation to the prophets and in many unseen ways. But He has a special relationship with the Church; guiding Her, protecting Her and leading Her in all truth.

i don't know what they p-word is (periqlytos) but in my bible it says helper. It means that he will give us the holy spirit. Holy Spirit or Holy Ghost [ghost, i.e., spirit, a translation of Gr. pneuma=breath, air], in Christian doctrine, the third person of the Trinity. The Holy Spirit is sometimes defined as the aspect of God immanent in this world, in human beings, and in the church. Jesus' promise to his disciples of a Comforter (or Paraclete, i.e., advocate), in John 14, is considered his principal reference to the Holy Spirit, and the descent of the Holy Spirit on the apostles and the communication of the gift of tongues, as recounted in Acts 2, is thought to be an example of the work of the Holy Spirit in time. This incident is commemorated on Pentecost

He would be "With you (the disciples of Jesus) forever" (verse 14:16). He is "the Spirit of Truth" (verse 14:17) "Whom the world cannot receive" (verse 14:17)
But "You(the disciples of Jesus) know Him" (verse 14:17)
For "He lives with you" (verse 14:17)
And "He shall be in you" (verse 14:17)
None of these things can be said to be true of Mohammed.
You are greatly deceived.
