What do you suggest is the best option to keep besides the default by Microsoft of 10% in the recycle bin for all the disk. If it is less that the amount specified, what is your rationale behind this?

Unless you regularly delete stuff that you actually didn't really mean to then the default size is plenty big enough.

In my case I always empty the recycle bin before I close down my computer at the end of a session so I could have it set much smaller

It all depends on how often you feel you need to recover deleted files and how big your hard drive is. If you want to recover old stuff, increase the size. If your hard drive is small (under 20 GB) then you may want to consider reducing the size of the Recycle bin.

It depends on you how often you restore your deleted files. If you delete megs and megs of file in a day then you really need to increase the size otherwise if you are normal user then default set by MS is enough for everyone.
