Think of pH as being the per human scale.

You should be mostly close to a seven yourself.

Acid is less, the stronger the acid the lower the pH mostly, we need a balance to maintain homeostasis that is near seven, mostly between six and eight.

Too much acid throughout your body is acidosis and will cause serious problem but then again the same can be said for too much alkali or higher than 7 pH.........the further from 7 generally the worse the problems. you need some, and their are many types of acids used in the body that do different things in different places...stomache, muscles, brain liver etc the brain treats citric acid similar to sugar and also makes dopamine from it which evolves into addrenalin one of the most developed crystal structures we create with our own brains, one of our most valuable end products of our processing.
