There are a lot of women that like shy guys. The trick is finding some in his area. Do you live near him? If so, you can help. Sort of "scout" out possibilities for him.

Does he have any hobbies or interests? Maybe he could get involved with a club that suits his tastes. For example, I know people in wine clubs, in coin collecting societies, railroad enthusiasts, etc.

If he's not bold enough to join clubs, how about penpalling? There are penpal clubs on-line and via regular mail service. I met my best friend through a penpal club many years ago.

Are there such things as personal adds in QLD ? He could place an add for companionship and such, and you kids could help screen them.... or he could try adult/senior clubs, I know he is NOT a senior yet but I am sure there are ppl his age at them.. or maybe you kids could throw him a surprise party of some kind and invite some of the women that are already in his life, the ones with NO attachments ? of course you would have to invite couples also and single men and such, so it would not embarrase him !!!! Look into other ideas listed in papers and phone books, most cities have singles clubs for all ages, and there is his House of Worship , if he goes to one.. maybe sign him up also for a singles trip, most cruise lines and tours have them these days..... Is there no lady friend, just a friend, in his life that could travel with him, or maybe a male friend that could go with him on one of those single tours ? What ever you decide, take it slow and easy with him...... God bless

bebopgal is right, there are singles groups that offer touring opportunities. I know a lady in Tennessee that went to Australia from the USA years ago as part of a singles group and she said most of the folks on the trip were 45 or older.

Do you know why he doesn't like computers? Maybe he's like a widower friend of mine and just intimidated to learn. When a friend and I offered to tutor him in his home then he started to show some interest. I'm sure that there's got to be someone in your Dad's hometown who could introduce him to computers if he wanted to learn. Here, in my hometown, there's a community college with "adult education" classes that are for fun and not for college credit so they're not expensive.

Well if he wants to travel and not alone, their are always single groups that travel. That way you do not have to feel you need to be with someone, but it is a chance to meet new people. Both male and female. I know a lot of women who really like shy men, so their is hope for your dad. What about friends he had with your mum, anyway they could help out. This is a hard one, good luck to you!

Have him go out to different group activities.
He will mix with and meet new people.
Good Luck

Does he participate in yahoogroups? It's a chatty atmosphere and there are groups to discuss pretty much ANY topic that a person would want to discuss including singles groups but they're all free.
