You had to file by 11:00am today. If you did then yes it's true as long as you did an e-file with direct deposit.

The link below is a chart telling you when you should get your refund IF you did an e-file (or FreeFile). It should be anywhere from 9-14 days. For paper returns you just need to keep checking the "Where's My Refund?" page.

The funny part is that the chart says "by 11:00am" but doesn't say what time zone! The bottom also says you should wait three weeks before checking the status of your e-file on the "Where's My Refund?" page. 3 weeks makes no sense to me if their payment schedule is 2 weeks. (I also think it's funny that when you print some of the forms from the IRS website it prints "Printed on recycled paper" on the bottom.)

If your return is ACCEPTED by Thursday at 11 am, you should have your refund on Friday of the following week if you efiled and had your return direct deposited. If it's accepted Thursday afternoon or Friday, yes, it would be two weeks.

One other note of caution, do not sign up for "Instant Refunds" at a tax preparation service. These are in fact loans with very, very high interest rates and fees. Wait a couple of days and get your entire refund.

Sometimes as little as ten working days. Of course this is if you choose direct deposit.

With a 1040-EZ, it sometimes is faster than that!
