My daughters rheumatologist will not consider changing her medication. Which i have asked her on 4 different occassions to do so. She is just taking Naproxsen. And has been for 2 years straight. It doesnt seem to be helping her as much as it could be. Her body just got used to the med, and the pain. Please tell me what do I do? Go see another doc? Just go along with it? Or what? Please tell me!

definately go see another doc!!! it took me 3 docs before i found the one i like... i have RA so i know what you are talking about!!!

there is also a great message board that can help 4ratalk.com

meds need to be changed as the body changes and gets worse!!!!! there are so many meds that help to stop the progression.. your daughter needs to stop the damage to her joints now and naproxen will not do that... DMARDS and biologics are great these days!!! i am on Enbrel myself!!!

good luck!

I would discuss the situation with the pediatrician and ask for the name of another doctor he respects. At least that way, if the other doctor says the same thing, you'll know.
I'm a big believer in getting another opinion when I'm not getting the attention I need.
Good luck - there's nothing that makes you feel as helpless as having an ill child that you can't help.
Give that sweet little girl of yours a hug and kiss from me.

Celebrex. I'm 27 years old and have been taking Celebrex for several years and have found it greatly improves how I feel. I took Naprosyn for a long time and it really didn't help. It also is said to upset the stomach. So, if you're not happy with your daughter's rheumatologist, switch! Why should he get your (and her) business?

Good luck.

im always a fan of 2nd opinions! If you are doubtful of you docs choices, and he/she will not consider changing or listening to you, go see someone else just to get a new perspective. After all, you are her mom which means you know her, and what she is experiencing better than anyone else. If you think that something more could be done for her, then what are you waiting for?
