It was a rational thing back then for many of the Religious laws to be practical ones as well. They did not have soap and water and good hygiene like we do today. Many of the Jewish laws like not eating pork, for example, were for rational reasons that got incorporated into the religious laws.

Early on, the theological maxim arose that Life is in the blood. Life belongs to God, therefore the shedding of blood makes one in debt i.e. unclean to God. To menasturate meant to not bear a life, hence to owe God from the womb and be unclean. God and women stood in a remarkably close relationship for the Jews in the ancient world. To associate "mere" woman with the creating acts of God is/was astounding.

I can't remember Jesus speaking about this, I could be wrong. It sounds more like the OT. Probably from Leviticus it was filled with many laws such as you mentioned, or people who had sores were unclean. God does quite a bit on mold too. It has to do with showing man their sinfulness and how Christ will be the perfect sacrifice.

I don't know of any place where Jesus said anythin glike that, but if he did, it would be becaues he was Jewish and according to Jewish law menstruating women are unclean. Many traditional cultures have similar beliefs, and, in the days before indoor plumbing and feminine hygine products they may have had a point.

It wasn't Jesus, that's from the Old Testament. But it still stands true, the Old Testament is as important as the New Testament.
A woman "is" unclean when she is menstruating, her body is shedding old and renewing its self.
God wasn't trying to insult us, He is just telling us what is true.
God Bless & trust God, He wont mislead any of us.

I think God truly did women a favor. He knew how women felt during their period and women did not really have the right to refuse relations with their husbands so can you imagine if there was no tabu about it at all? Oh geesh, the women would have no relief.
