It could cause Reye's syndrome. You should only give Tylenol or ibuprofen if you child has recently eaten. You can look up Reye's syndrome online.

Cause they can get Reye Syndrome from taking aspirin when they are sick and running a fever. you never give a sick child aspirin, only Tylenol or Advil !! Read the fine writing on the ASPIRIN BOTTLE ABOUT IT !!!!!!!! I thought most all parents knew this and you should always find out the correct amount of medicine to give your child regardless !! Always remember When In Doubt Call The Doctor next time and Always !!

I still remember a sad story from my childhood ~ a mom gave her 7 year old a bottle of baby aspirin ~ with just a few in the bottle ~ to use for her girls to play "nurse." The younger daughter ~ who may have been around 3 or 4 at the time ~ died as a result.

No, no, no!! Aspirin should not be given to anyone until they've reached the age of 21 (yes, 21!). Reye syndrome has been linked to the use of salicylates, like aspirin, given during viral illnesses. There's no conclusive proof but the statistics have alerted pediatricians to refrain from giving salicylates to children.

There are lots of reasons asprin is no longer a drug that is used to treat children. The biggest one is that a child can have horrible reaction if they are infected with chicken pox. Give Children's Tylenol or Children's Motrin.

Your child must be at least 12 years old to be able to have aspirin it can cause reye's syndrome and it's not going to reduce a fever.

you don't give aspirin for fever reduction - it may (and usually does) cause Reye's Syndrome which is very potentially fatal. You give acetemetaphin (i.e. tylenol) or ibuprofen for fever reduction.

Didn't you read the label first? There are warnings all over aspirin bottles for that very reason!

No aspirin of any kind--childrens or otherwise--for kids under 12.

Aspirin is linked to Reye's Syndrome (google it), which can be fatal, and there are lots of other safe pain relievers/fever reducers you can use instead.

Aspirin can cause reyes syndrome in children. It is no longer reccomended to give children aspirin. Ibuprofen and tylenol are so much better pain releivers and much better choices for children.
