that's why you transferred to what appeals to you? i mean, did you leave because you think the doctrines are so strict and you had a hard time conforming?

That's the thing about religion. We need it to set our boundaries. We do not do very good with them ourselves. It does no good to shop around until we find a religion that suits our take on life. This though sadly, is what more and more people do these days. We are having a tough time with authority of any kind. If you are a parent and have a tough time trying to control your children it is just some of the Spiritual spilling over into the natural world.

I pulled out of the system when I realised that the whole concept was just totally stupid. I was 12 yo at the time. Now, I'm fast-approaching 65 and have lived a life free of religion and have been all the better for it. I also live a life which is civilised. I have killed no-one, I have stolen nothing but time, I have lusted and committed adultery - that's just the way we are designed. I have not ever thought of exploding myself and as many innocent bystanders as possible in the name of religion.
I am very 'cool' about how I have behaved without the need for there to be 'fear' of any so-called divine judgement or eternity in an imaginary heaven or hell, since they do not exist either.
Happiness is an open mind, filled with good thoughts - understanding, tolerance, generosity, love, etc and all available without there being a fairy in the sky to consider.
Wake up, people. Set yourselves free!

No. I believed in all the teachings of the church. The church I left put more emphasis on following rules and being good examples of Christians and ignored many teachings of Jesus. One example: much preaching on marriage, what it should and should not be. I asked the preacher how one attains such an ideal state in marriage and he said it was not his job to tell people that, it was his job to hold forth the standard. I could not attain to the perfect standard, so I left the church and found one who could help me work on it.
This was also done in many areas other than marriage.

I left Christianity but not God. I haven't gone to church in quite a while because I feel like I'm too real to fit in there. I understand when non-Christians feel judged, quite often they truly are.

I left because the god they believe in is far less reasonable and compassionate than your average decent human being.

I left because I don't believe that God would condemn billions of good people to hell for not being Christian.

I left because the theology was shallow and riddled with inconsistencies.
