I had perfect teeth until recently I was eating and accidentally bit hard on a metal chop stick. I can definitely see that my lower middle tooth sort of went out of place a little. This is very traumatic to me. Is it too expensive to consult a dentist?

Please don't screw around with the answers. If you're not going to contribute an educated advice, then don't even bother to respond to my question.

If your tooth is noticeably out of line then you have probably done damage to the ligament that holds the tooth in place. This could very well lead to the need for a root canal in the near future. I would certainly consult a dentist ASAP. He can XRay the area to see what damage has been done. I would think that you could get an exam and XRay for around $75 depending on where you live. Make some phone calls tomorrow and get an appointment. At least you'll know what you're dealing with.

If I were you, I'd start with my regular dentist. I agree that you should probably get an x-ray to ensure that there is no damage.

If your tooth is fine and your alignment was good before this "accident" then it may be possible to move that tooth back into position with a special type of removable retainer that you would wear for a number of months. You may only need to wear it at night.

If your dentist isn't sure what to do, or if you can't afford to see your dentist, consult with an orthodontist in your area. Orthodontic consultations are usually free.

ah...no...and your teeth might be out of line anyway...when your wisdom teeth come in, and they don't come in correctly, they can move all your teeth. (thats why they're mostly taken out these days, that and infections.) What were you doing with a metal chopstick ??? didn't your mother tell you not to put things like that in your mouth ???
