get a better straightener. I have a CHI and it works great.

Your using the Wrong kind of flat iron, or its mighty cheap. I have unruly hair and a 18 dollar cheapy from walmart worked on my hair. I also have an expensive one. Try a straightening gel/cream or serum before you flat iron.
