It depends. They are usually sent to a bio hazard lab for disposal or incineration after all the tests are done on them. Or, they can be used for medical research (students of medicine) or given back to the family member. My grandmother has her legs in a jar, cremated.

cremation, but it depends. Certain cultures believe that they must be buried with all of their body parts when they die in order for their spirit to make it to whatever realm it goes too. So sometimes they can sign a release form and take they body part with them. I heard of one guy keeping his foreskin in the freezer after he was circumsized.
