Ok, please don't laugh. This is a serious question. I have a red rash around my anus. It's painless, and there's no itching or burning, and no discomfort at all unless my underwear rubs against it.

What could be the cause? Could it be caused by soap that's too harsh? I use that antibacterial soap in the dispensers at the gym and I use liquid hand soap in the bathroom at work (on a wet paper towel) to clean myself.

Could be a yeast infection or an allergy. Best thing to do is go the Dr. He can give you the proper advise on cleansing not to mention an ointment which will give you a lot of relief. If you do not want to go to the Dr. then wash with Ivory soap (99 & 44/100% pure)then laying across your bed naked for a while making sure there is good air circulation in the affected area. That is what Dr.s tell moms to do with their babies to prevent or heal diaper rash & it works real well. I still think you ought to go to the Dr. though.

well that might be the case maybe they are too harsh for your skin try something more softer and hypo allergenic and be careful at the gym and make sure you wash EVERYTHING and keep things clean that way you wont irratate the rash try to apply vasaline to the area to keep from chafing from your undies if none of the above works seek a doctors help God Bless

U need to rinse with cold water when u bath there after u rinse with hot.
Could be the soap or the detergent u use in your underwear.
Put some aloe vera gel on it.
