Volunteer at an animal shelter, helping them to find good homes. Raise money for your local shelter by having a bake sale or collecting cans for recycling. (That's two in one!) Donate pet food to your local food bank and shelter.

One thing you can do is see if there is a Managed Feral Cat Colony in your area, and volunteer to feed, water, and transport for vet visits. If there is no Managed Colony and your area needs one, look into establishing one. With minor interventions, cat colonies can be managed, given a quality of life at least equal to what they can achieve on their own, while slowly bringing the colony to a natural end by taking the kittens to be adopted when that is feasible and sterilizing both sexes.
You can also volunteer at an animal shelter. I have no idea what your area shelter's needs are, they can tell you-they can also tell you about the Managed Colonies I was mentioning.
And, of course, you can always donate money or food to your local shelter.

This is very sweet of you. There are many ways to help animals in need.
You can volunteer your time at a local rescue/animal shelter and work with the animals: walking, feeding, cleaning, and caring. A good way to get involved is to contact your local animal/shelter and talk to a representative (or even go on the website). The most that they require is that you attend a simple seminar (hosted by them) that helps you understand and teaches you about the rescue/society. They will also most likely have you fill out some information to keep on record, this is just a introduction (mostly educate you) on the different jobs and how they handle the shelters.
Another way is to donate money or even pick items on the "wish list." Many shelters/rescues have a "wish list" that consist of different items that they are in need of. You can simply purchase it and send it to them. They will greatly appreciate it.
Another way is to foster. You will have to contact your area shelters/rescues to tak to them and see what they require and how to get involved.
There are actually more ways to help than just those three options. The BEST way to find out more about helping is to call or look on the websites of your area shelters. Many of them have plenty of ways to help the. Each shelter has their own "wish list," volunteer programs, as well as other opportunities.
If you are not familiar with your area nor know where to start searching for local shelters then the best place to go is petfinder.
You can type in your local zip code and shelters/rescues will pop up and it'll provide you with information to their websites. Just look at the top of the site and they have a link "Shelter & Rescue Groups."

Good Luck.

If you have time you could always volunteer at your local animal shelter. Cats and Dogs need to be walked, petted, brushed or bathed. If there is a hospital or spay/neuter clinic at your shelter you could volunteer in one of those areas. You could have a blanket or food drive t odonate to the shelter. Hope these ideas help. Good Luck

Call your local animal shelter and ask about being a foster home for animals until they are adopted. Many people do this for short periods and it helps the shelter and gives the animals a loving home until a possible owner steps up.

That's wonderful of you! You can volunteer your time at the local Humane Society. They really need people to help walk the dogs and spend time with them as well as spending time with the cats. They could also use extra funds to pay for food and medical supplies.
You can also check around your area of rescue organizations that save particular breeds of dogs that have been abused or abandoned.
Best wishes and God bless! It's good to see someone cares about our furry friends.

Well, If you love cats and dogs why don't you volunteer for an animal hospital and save animals and still hang out with them. It would be great for a person like you.

Ok, there are alot of things you can do to help out with pets, if you're not able to adopt them:
~ You can vollunteer to help out with the animals (maybe feeding them? Playing with them?)
~ You can donate (money, or any items like pet toys) to a local animal shelter
~ Visit and play with the animals and have a good time with them, while they are having a good time with you!

Volunteer at your local Humane Society. They can use all kinds of help. Walking the dogs .. cleaning the kitty kennels .. etc. If you have extra money .. ask local shelters if they accept new / dry food from a store .. or if they have a certain Brand Name that they accept. Good Luck ! :)

You could contact your local RSPCA, they have a foster program, you can either foster cats or dogs/puppies, remember you should only have to 'care' for them for anywhere from a week to maybe 3-4 weeks. Good on you.
