You have a choice of married filing jointly, or married filing separately. Joint almost always is best, but you could figure it both ways since there are rare circumstances, generally involving very specific situations with itemized deductions, where separate is better.

You can answer your question yourself by filling out your pencil copies both ways - "Married Filing Jointly" and "Married Filing Separately". That's the easiest way to find out. Married/Jointly may be a little better because "couples" are usually allowed a higher deduction in some areas than "Separately" when the 2 are added together. Hope this helps you to decide. Good Luck!!

We filed jointly for a few years and then decided to try married but filing seperate. Filing seperate got us way more money. It also depends on how many dedustions you have on your employer w-4, kids etc. Hope this helps

Married, filing jointly will most likely get you the biggest refund (providing you do not owe tax)

Usually filing a joint return is most beneficial. You can try it out both ways though, and see which gets you more.
