Seems like I waste alot of time at home even when I do study its not for a very long time. Please give me some ways that I could focus on work instead of play.

i know how you feel. i have the same problem. i have a short attention span, so i can't focus my mind on my work.
ive learned that you
should play soothing music [if you can work with it]
do flashcards
do one subject at a time
use colorful highlighters
be able to take out the most precise stuff that you need for to study too

see if this helps. sorry if it doesnt.

You gotta just do it

You gotta just do it (like the Nike commercial). Congratulations! You have won half the battle in your question. How you ask? You already realize you waste a lot of time. Man I used to waste time; putting it off, studying with the T.V. on, studying when I was tired and biggest of all studying with friends. Waste. When you come to the realization that only you and you alone can do it when you aren't distracted or tired you can learn. You gotta want it (think of the rewards). You gotta be ready (study when you are well rested). Don't try to do it at once if you can't learn that way. Do what works for you but don't put it off. Once I learned that only myself could teach myself and I learned not to pressure myself by not procrastinating (putting it all off to the last minute) could I refine the best methods to learn by (reading chapters twice) etc.

separate your study area form your "play area". have a corner to just sit and read. make the area inviting where you want to stay awhile, make sure that you out of the way of any siblings(they are a major distraction. )
turn off the TV, turn on the radio, play classical music in the background,, I had found when I had music on I was more focus on the subject.

you need to set goals. what are you going to do in the next two hours. then meet that goal before you take a break.

also strat with the easy tasks so the some stuff is done,,,it feels better to have only one left even if it is the biggest.
no phone
no sibs or parents
bring in water and snack and study

Reading out loud as opposed to silently helps your brain register the information better. Jewish scholars study outloud and if its good enough for them, should work for the rest of us. Also, jot dot really important info off every page this helps you pay attention to what your reading (if doing textbook reading) that's what I did. Good Luck.
