Hey. I just got a new blender and I'd like to make some fun stuff with it. Any "recipes"?

No alcohol please.

How about an avocado shake?

Ingredients:
- 1-2 avocados
- 2-3 tablespoon of sugar
- About 2 cups of crushed ice or ice cubes.
- 1/4-1/2 cup of milk or cream
- Vanilla icecream (optional)

Preparation:
Cut the avocadoes in halves then throw away the "big seed." Cave out the green stuff into the blender. Put sugar, icecream and milk. Turn on the blender and crush everything up til they blend smoothly then add ice. Crush the mixture again until the ice is totally gone and voilà! :-)

I think this will serve 2-3 people nicely. The icecream is optional, it just makes the shake creamier.

Good luck!

Banana milkshake

1 banana, cut up (chilled to almost frozen)
Add enough milk to cover the banana in the blender
about 1/2 tsp. vanilla extract
Puree until smooth
Tastes just like a milkshake w/out the ice cream!

Tropical smoothie
1/4 cup frozen strawberries
1/4 cup frozen blueberries
1 (6 oz) container pina colada or pineapple yogurt
enough OJ to cover the other ingredients in blender
puree until smooth

Also, I have found that the blender is the best way to mash bananas for banana bread. The markings on the side let me know when I have the right amount.

Blenders are also great for making smooth, creamy soups. Like tomato-basil soup.

Finally, if you live in a hot climate, you can put your morning coffee in the blender with some ice cubes and cream/sugar/chocolate to your taste and make your own iced coffee frappe-whatever.

Pepper Cream Cheese Dip and Spread
1 lb cream cheese (2 "bricks")
1-2 tablespoon milk
1 (14 ounce) jar whole mild cherry peppers or roasted red peppers
3-4 tablespoons mild jalapenos

Heat cream cheese 30-40 sec in microwave. Mix in milk until smooth.
Drain peppers and chop coarsely by pulsing in food processor (or blender).
Add cream cheese and pulse until blended.
Serve with crackers, tortilla chips or crudites, or spread on bread or bagels. Can be served immediately or refrigerated overnight to let flavors blend.

Easy & Delicious Broccoli Cheese Soup
2 tablespoons butter
1 onion, chopped
2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
1 1/2 cups chicken stock
1 (750 g) package frozen chopped broccoli or 3 cups fresh broccoli
1/4 teaspoon pepper
1 1/2 cups milk
1 1/2 cups grated cheddar cheese
1/4 teaspoon Tabasco sauce
2 tablespoons chopped fresh dill or fresh parsley or chives
1 red pepper, chopped (optional)

Melt butter. Cook onion until soft but not brown.
Stir in flour and cook 3 minutes.
Wisk in stock and broccoli.
Bring to boil.
Reduce heat and simmer 5 to 10 minutes.
Puree mixture (in food processor or blender).
Return to heat, add pepper, milk, cheese, and Tabasco sauce.
Heat thoroughly but do not boil.
Taste and adjust seasoning if necessary.
If you are using fresh broccoli, trim off tough stems, chop and cook 15 minutes before putting in blender.

1/3 cup sugar
1 1/2 teaspoons cinnamon
1 1/3 cups milk, scalded
3/4 teaspoon vanilla
1/2 cup whipping cream, chilled
2 3/4 cups fresh brewed coffee

In a food processor (or blender) combine chocolate, sugar and cinnamon, chopping using 3 on/off turns and then finish processing until mixture is fine.
With machine running pour hot milk and vanilla through food tube and blend until chocolate is melted (10 seconds). *Can be prepared ahead to this point and refrigerated for up to 2 days, bringing to room temperature before proceeding.
With the food processor running pour cream through food tube, processing until thick.
Reheat chocolate mixture in a saucepan over medium heat, stirring frequently.

if you are adventurous

blend a nice red watermellon, through in half a clove of garlic, through in a a bit of shopped green onion, salt, pepper

Give it a good spin, take it out, serve it in a bowl as a nice summer cold soup and top the soup with pieces of crumbled feta cheese

Its a cold soup to die for.
