I met a girl almost a year ago that I really liked, but after a few months I made a mistake and she wouldn't talk to me. I stopped trying to talk to her after one week. I tried talking to her on the last day of school and she responded until I asked her if she was still mad at me, at which she said no, she just didn't want to talk to me. I didn't see her over the summer until school started again. When I would say hi to her or walk by her she wouldn't even look at me. After a while she did start saying hi to me then stopped again. Since then I had been ignoring her while still thinking about her. After ignoring her for over a month an returning to school from the Christmas break I noticed she started looking at me from a distance or when she was close until I would look at her, then she would quickly look away. At lunch she either sits at a table where she looks directly at me or at a table that's close to mine. Are there any more signs I could look for to show that she misses me?

What happened was she told me she was falling in love with someone else about a year ago and that a couple of her friends were falling in love too. I panicked and told a friend what she said. I was afraid of her liking someone else besides me. I left out the names of her firends she told me when I told him. He figured out who and teased her friends about falling in love, so the girl I like got mad at me and wouldn't talk to me. The boy she said she was falling in love with at the time, now she recently argued with him (I was there) telling him "I'm never mean to you! You're always mean to me!" It seems like they're not really talking now. I told her I was sorry. No matter how stupid it sounds, at the time I didn't know better to not say anything at all that we talked about. We were only friends before. Today I just want to be friends instead of being her boyfriend since she didn't like me that way, and because she's the kind of girl I want to stay with forever.

She's no longer mad at me for what I know, I just haven't tried to start a convesation with her yet. The other thing I'm afraid of is if we keep going on like this until I graduate this year I may never see her again. I do make sure I don't seem needy when she's around. She sees me talk to other people and seems to pay more attention when I'm talking to other girls.

I also recognize there are other fish in the sea, it's just that I also know I'll never find another like her.
