the rear struts were replaced when the car started to make weird clunking sounds and the struts were found to be worn out...also had the auto re alinged. Problem, the car is making the same weird clunking sounds,, Were the wrong struts instaled.

If you are sure that the sound you are hearing is coming from the back and the struts were the right ones, it is probably the strut mounts on the top of the struts that are actually the problem. Could have been the problem all along. These are rubber mounts that sit between the car body and the top of the struts. To be honest, most of the struts that I have seen replaced were only from leaking problems, rarely do these make noises. General Motors released a new design for the rear strut mounts on these cars that was only to address a clunk from this area. Check with your installer or a dealer to confirm. Good luck.

This is a front wheel drive car, the clunking sound your hearing is most likely coming from the front drive axles CV joints. .

there is a spacer above the strut on some cars check them out and check to see if all bolts are tightened
