I can only tell you how I kickstarted my spiritual life. It unfortunately involved me being in a very low point in my life. I tossed my pride aside, got on my knees and pleaded with God to help me out of my rut. From that moment on he has had an active role in my life.
I think what you need to do is reach out with all your heart and talk to him. Dont hold back one bit. And it flows to you. It's very addictive.

If you are a Christian already just ask God to baptize you with the Holy Spirit, and receive Him into your life in faith just as you did Christ. Read the Book of Acts. The Holy Spirit guides and directs us in the word of God and teaches us, convicts us and edifies Jesus within us. Also He supplies the gifts whenever we need them. A great way to know the Holy Spirit is working in your life is to just start singing and praising God while you are doing chores around the house.

Start doing what you know to do.I see so many Christians today saying they don't know what God wants them to do.So I ask them , How's your neighbor doing , how's the folks out at the nursing home doing , visited with anyone down at the homeless shelter lately ? There is so much work to do.If you want the Spirit of God working in you just open your ears and eyes.

Its already there working. You have heard of the soul which is a facet of God that was made before the creation of the Physical Universe.All you have to do is listen for it.

That's difficult, because there is no God. The best you could do is just convince yourself that God is working in your life. Many people have done so. It's a matter of ignoring the illogic of it and just hinging your beliefs on emotional attachment to this fiction.

meditate on His word, praise and worship is the best way also prayer....every morning spend time talking to Him, He loves you, just having the desire is a great start
