Join the Air Force for two reasons:

1) Less likely to see actual combat.

2) Marketable skills after enlistment

Well it depends what you want to do. If you want the easiest(NOTE: Even the easiest jobs in the military will be tough to some degree) you want the Air Force. If you want to actually FIGHT for your country, then the Army has more options. But the Air Force has some good SOF too. Although their main mission isn't combat. The Air Force also has the shortest deployments, while the Army has the longest. Thats why you will get the big big bonus in the Army.

If I was chosing between the two, I would go with the Army so I could do Special Forces, but thats just me.

I cannot tell you which is best, but if you choose the army you should get the most for it that you can.
The Army and Army Reserves are offerring more and more bonuses to fill their ranks. One now offers soldiers $2000 to refer potential new recruits. If you are considering joining either the Army or Army Reserves, and you allow me to refer you BEFORE you speak with a recruiter, I will give you 75% of the referral bonus that I earn. When you sign up, I should get $1000 from which I will send you $750. When you successfully complete your initial training, I get another $1000, and again I will send you $750. This does not in any way reduce any of the other bonuses that they will offer you, which can be as high as $40,000 to join the Army and $20,000 to join the Army Reserves. If you instead just call a recruiter, no one gets this $2000. If you do not want to do it with me, then before you talk to a recruiter let some other soldier refer you. Please do not bid on this item. If you are interested, e mail me your name, address, and phone # including area code. I will pass the information on to the Army, which will then have a recruiter contact you. When I get paid, you get paid! I am not trying to talk anyone into joining the Army or Army Reserves. But if you already plan to do it, you should get as much for it as you can. So e mail me at armybonus@hawaii.rr.com with the information that I nedd or with any questions that you have. For information about this program see http://www.irwin.army.mil/Bonus.htm.

Biased answer here because I was in the Army, so I'm gonna say Army:D The major thing that stands out with the Army is that you can actually pick the job you want(if your scores are high enough) not just the general field. Plus, if you want to attend college classes while you are serving, you can pick what ever you want, and the classes don't have to be related to the job you are in. Plus, the skills you acquire in the Army are just as marketable as the skills you acquire in the Air Force(maybe more so).

What do you want to do? What are your interests? What living environment do you want? There are a lot of questions I could ask. But ultimately, the Air Force takes better care of their workers, but the army gives more college money. Theres a more extensive and exciting list of jobs to choose from in the army, but a lot aren't transferable to civilian life. I joined the army not knowing much and I spent five years in the infantry. No real regrets, but I have no skills that carry to civilian life. Now I have a full ride to school and I'm getting my education. If you want to ask me more feel free to email. mooreorless80@yahoo.com

-->air force is never in direct contact with the enemy

army are the foot solders of the U.S.

benifits should be similar because the government gives them to same allowances
some things like signing bonus
schooling
might be different

The Air Force is in mothballs because it's un-PC to bomb the enemy. Therefore, it's safer.

The Army is more dangerous, because it's been transformed into a police force and it's more PC to sacrifice soldiers than to kill the enemy. Also, you're more likely to be prosecuted and thrown into prison for doing your job properly.

It depends on what you can contribute and what you want to get from it. You forgot the USMC, USN, and USCG.
