I am usually strongly Atheist but I realize that your whole sense of reality can change in a split second so I here is my proposed theory for trying to attempt to understand a person's reasoning behind the POSSIBILITY of a god:

If you use simple logic you can see that we exist, yet our existance is illogical because logic will tell us that something has to come from something else in EVERY case yet the problem of infinite regression makes this impossible for an original cause to exist. So you must consider that logic is only our understanding of the world based on observations and the conclusions we draw from them. So perhaps outside of our limited observations, our logic becomes completely irrelevant. Gravity may pull things away, time may go backwards etc etc...God is without a doubt illogical to me, (others may hold different opinions), yet if we want to justify 1 claim: Something must come from something else, we must accept this obstruction of logic that basically comes to:

We don't know enough to decide that OUR logic is enough to truly DISPROVE god.

NOTE: This is disregarding the fact most people hold the opinion god can not be disproven anyways without accepting this theory. But I am not one of those, for the same reason I believe I can truly DISPROVE circular cubes.

Well, it is kind of a question as I am wondering other people's opinion on the matter..so i'll add this:
What's your opinions?

What do you notice about Christians? If your keen you will realize that nothing shakes their faith. If all the world turned atheist, it isn't going to change their minds. It is impossible to turn somebody away from a truth, when they know the truth personally.

It looks to me the only way you will believe is if you see God with your own eyes. But If you look at the order of creation, the laws, fine tuning, time, everything points to a designer. In order to reach any point, one must have a starting point. And something had to start it off. It is not really difficult to believe in a eternal God, when you realize that one has to exist for life to make sense. Also endtime propechy that is being told by the bible, and its happening right now is just amazing. If you study this site, and listen to the lessons, I think you will begin to realize how supernatual the bible really is. The only reason I have full assurance is because, I have the spirit of Jesus. When you know the truth, their is no speculation. Their is a lot of info out their in the world today that is very deceiving. Satan goal is to kill steal and destroy. I ask you to seek the truth, with an open mind. And the God you doubted will reveal himself to you. I'm not lying either, I have no doubt none. Seriously. Just look at 11 of the 12 diciples who were killed after having seen Jesus ressurect from the dead. Either all of them were crazy, or they had witnessed it.

I can see your reasoning, would, seem logical to you, but how can some one truly be logical about some thing or someone they know nothing about? How is it possible to aply logic to something you cannot fathom for lack of experience and/or understanding just like the statements so often made by people about the Bible being tales or stories and yet these people in most cases may not even have opened this book to look at how logical and accurate it really is! How would any of them or even anybody at all like to be judged, without the person judging them knowing anything about them just by deciding on the personal opinion of the one doing the judging? But you aluded to this already in your own statement these things do indeed obstruct logic, what is logic in a person who has no idea about the person or thing that they are making a judgement about? It is not truly possible for humans who see only face value.

That's interesting, but I wonder if we are even right that everything HAS to start from something. That something can never have always been or what not. Now, I'm not using that to support God, because I don't believe any Gods started that way, but it is something to think of.

Yet, with what humans understand now (logically speaking) there is very little if any PROOF of a divine creature. But, since humans only use 10-11% of their brains, I don't but much stock in our logic all the time. Yet, since it is the best we have at our disposal, I often turn to it because it usually produces the most rational answers we can come up with.

That wasn't helpful at all for a religious discussion.

Here are some tips on writing about religion:

Include some obscure line of scripture. It must be used out of context. The more ambiguous the better. Then interpret it in some way that anyone with even the most basic understanding of language and logic could see is ridiculous. And feel free to add some additional scripture halfway through that completely contradicts the first scripture. When you can believe two or more contradictory things simultaneously that is called being "full of faith". That wins you big points in religious circles. Being full of it is what it's all about.

Set out to prove something but in your argument assume the thing you are supposedly proving then go full circle so that your conclusion is the same as your original assumption.

Make sure to point out that anyone who disagrees with you is going to hell.

Point out that no matter how ridiculous your beliefs are it would be "not nice" for anyone to point that out to you.

I'm expecting big things out of you now so don't let us down!

That's not how I view it.

My view of God is the spirit that lies behind reality. It's like the ultimate wise being. I don't believe in a transcendent being that has ultimate control over everything.

Individual gods are more archetypes; perhaps aspects of Deity, or types of energy.

There is a good body of evidence to support reincarnation. I think that many atheists dismiss this without a great deal of investigation. Using anecdotal evidence, such as multiple people claiming to have been Cleopatra, they gloss over or ignore more substantiated accounts.

Reincarnation lends credence to the possibility of more advanced souls. Some might be advanced enough to be somewhat elevated and these could be spirits that we can ask for help; either saints or gods or what have you.

True enough. Things may seem illogical until you get another piece of the puzzle, then it just "fits" and you realize something greater than what you thought you knew before. You'll hold onto this until something else comes along.

You're right, we don't know enough to disprove God. On the other hand if you looked in all the right places you would find him, her, or them.

Edit:

I am of the opinion that things can be understood but that they are hidden very well.

Thank you. Science has "evolved" thru the ages but some things that were once scientific and logical have changed over time--the earth is flat, etc. etc. Science can still make many new discoveries about the world and God in the years ahead.

Sounds very logical.
I also think that we must be from something and that something is God.
Some things can't always be solved with a logical problem though. Take love for example. I mean you can always go into hormones and habit to try to explain love, but I truly believe love goes deeper than that, and there is really no logic to love, it is just something that exists and actually defies logic.

I think god is a way for people to escape reality and believe that there is something to live for. Believe that there is someone is looking after us (big brotheresc). I think god is just something that no matter what goes on people will have personal opinions about, no matter how in depth someone goes in explaining it.

That's a little hard for me to grasp, but I'll say this.
If God is infinite, and everyone says He is, then he cannot be defined by any one or even several point of views. Therefore, I believe that what ever way you choose to "see" God is as correct as anyone else's.
