Just dont invite them... and if anyone asked why they werent invited just explain that you would have loved to invite everyone but due to finances you were limited in the number of guests.

Everyone knows that weddings are expensive and that just because you know the bride or groom doesnt entitle you to a invite. You should invite people who mean somthing to you and your spouce... not people who you just see in the office.

Send an announcement after the fact. It serves the purpose of letting people know you are married without having to indulge them in the ceremony.

Or, after you get back from the island, have a second reception.

But if it were me (and I got married in a private ceremony on an island), I would sent out the announcement and be done with it.
