I think Satanists (LaVey type) get persecuted way too often because someone sees "Satanism" and jumps to "OH GOD, THEY SACRIFICE CHILDREN!" With no knowledge of WHAT they are complaining and preaching against, the people who do look like idiots. Now, pseudo-Satanism (at least those who practice sacrifical rituals and try to be all "eeeeeeeeeeeeeviiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiil") do deserve the scorn they get.
I used to be for atheists until many started complaining that all religions had no basis in logic. I came to my religious beliefs logically and I'm quite happy with them. So, I don't tend to feel much sorrow for atheists who preach a revserse Pascal's Wager to religious people.

Persecution?
I can't say we are persecuted. (Well... I guess I would if I wanted to run for office in Texas... the state constitution says you have to believe in a deity!) There would be lots worse places to live and be atheists!
Annoyed, yes, though.
Especially, when you keep running into the same old preacher talking-points like: we can't be moral, are against/hate all theists, and are some sort of a group of hedonists, evolution is atheist dogma, etc..

This is AMERICA all around the world there is severe religious suppression where people are getting jailed, beat or tortured & killed. We are still civilized. I know Bible prophesy tells of Xtian persecution in the last day but also Divine Protection. What are you complaining about you guys have the commie ACLFU fighting for you. They also fight for pedophiles being free to be around children, rapists also. They are visibly anti-US military backing protestors with signs saying 'Thank God for IED's!'. Are you a 07' new yr anti-Xtian clone? A bunch like you have signed on since 1/1/07 & sound very similar.

I've been around and know a lot of atheists and the only persecution I've seen is if their newspaper is delivered wet or late.

I'm with you there. I am not really a straight forward Christian, but I do beleive in God. I was raised with a regular babtist religion, and I beleive everysingle word. I wish everyone beleived in the same God that I know exists, but that don't happen. I think that aitheists should keep their mouths shut though. Not to be judgemental, but I hate it when they say some of the stuff they say. Bye.

persecuted?
have you been discriminated against from eating in restaurants? do you have to sit in the back of buses because you refuse to worship God? does your family get discriminated against from going to school with christian kids? are atheists hanged and tortured for their beliefs? do you have the right to vote? are crosses burning in your yard right now with gas cans breaking your windows? do you have to wear a symbol on your clothing for the public to identity yourself as an atheist? do you get spit on because u dont believe in God? does the government prevent you from working jobs parallel to your christian Americans? did anyone take your land and home to make it their own for modernization? do atheists and satanists get looked at funny or followed around when they enter high class stores and hotels?
you are really being persecuted? how?

Not feeling particularly persecuted, myself, and I don't feel any need to join any kind of association. I'd probably have to pay dues, and I have enough bills, thanks.

Persecution has Always Purified the Church of Christ Jesus!
What they don't realize is that they Are Only HEAPING IT UPON THEMSELVES FOR TIME AND ETERNITY!
Unless They REPENT!
(Acts 17:30-31) And the times of this ignorance God winked at; but now commandeth all men every where to repent:
(Acts 17:31) Because he hath appointed a day, in the which he will judge the world in righteousness by that man whom he hath ordained; whereof he hath given assurance unto all men, in that he hath raised him from the dead.
Thanks, RR
