A food stamp is when a bunch of people get inside a big barrel and make wine.

or

It is a government subside where you go to the store and get food with the amount aloud you based on the amount of dependents and financial status. I think hot foods don't count and it has to be food so soap doesn't count. Call your Social Service and they will explain it.

By the way, it is no longer a stamp. They now issue you a card and deposit the amount every month into your account that you open in the beginning. If you do not use that amount within the month they take it back but this may vary from state to state.

It is welfare. It is given by state government to people who have no means of support, or who have a meager income, and cannot afford food without financial assistance. I some states, it is like a credit card, with a amount limit. The person can use this card to purchase FOOD ITEMS onlt with this card, no liquor, or anything non-food related. The card is renewed every month as needed.
