I've read other peoples answer to this question except....I have 2 Siberians so it's not like she's lonely, they have a ridiculous amount of bones and toys at thier reach, They have a huge fenced in backyard where they get lots of exercise, I just don't know what to do I've tried 4 different kinds of bitter spray, we use to cage them until they started kicking out thier trays and chewing my 1 piece vinyl flooring. I'm at a complete loss and they are members of our family so getting rid of them is not an option. Please Help!

huskies are bred to pull sleds etc.... you need to give her some sort of outlet to quench her natural instincts.... you obviously bought a pet for its looks and not for its instincts now you must deal with a frustrated animal

I know exactly how you feel. I have one that is a mix...Siberian Husky and German Sheppard and she chews up everything in sight, and her toys just lay there beside her while she eats up my best shoes. I am like you, and I refuse to get rid of her regardless of how much she wants to eat...my shoes are replaceable as is furniture, lol. The best thing that I have found to get her to stop with my furniture and things along those lines (it still doesn't work on my shoes) is I will actually get a bottle of Tabasco sauce and mix it up in a small spray bottle with water (I asked the vet if this could hurt her in any way and he assured me it could not) and sprayed it all over my house. (It's a little smelly at first, and if you don't add enough water, can be a little sticky too, not sure why). After day two, she wasn't particularly fond of the furniture anymore. It actually got her to stop trying to climb all over it as well, and now she even lays in the floor at your feet instead of trying to pile all 75 pounds of herself on your lap. I would suggest giving it a try. It worked out ok for me. It might work for you too. Good luck :)

siberian huskies are very smart dogs that LOVE to do work--in their case, pulling things. even volkswagons----they get bored very easily and will chew anything to the very nub if not exercised enough and regularly. my mom was a siberian husky AKC kennel-breeder. she would take her dogs out for a "walk" which consisted of more than 1 hour EACH of running while she rode a bicycle---sometimes ma fell down cause the dog (s) would see a kitty or something. there is nothing more bgent on chewing than a bored siberian husky. i hope you enjoy bike riding!!! you have 2 of these beauties!!! mom had 6.........she was in shape.

Obedience training starts the day you bring your dog home. If you let them get away with it once they will keep on doing it. Huskies are smart dogs, they are people pleasers, and pack dogs (they like to be a part of a group). Scold them, discipline them like you would a child. YOU have to be top dog, a dog pack has a hierarchy. Lead dog all the way down to peon-pup. YOU are the Lead dog and they HAVE to KNOW that. If they are bad, and you discipline them, leave them alone for just a few minutes. Come back pet them and tell them they are good dogs and pretend it never happened. Use a strong loud voice when they bad, a soft comforting voice when they are being good. Dogs don't know words, dogs know sounds. get them in a routine and stick to it. Remember YOU are top dog! They chew because you allow them to get away with it.

Have you tried just pure love and talking to them, taking them for a walk etc.. All dogs want love and give it back in return. You have to try because siberians are beautiful and very easy to train. Sorry for saying this but I think you are a little lazy about it, a back yard is no good. You should walk them in the very least 2 miles a day, twice if possible. Mine is fantastic.

If you lived somewhere with a lot of snow, can you mush your dogs? The backyard is no good 'cos there's nothing new there. Same old, same old. When I think of Siberians, I think Jack London's Call of the Wild. You gotta take 'em out for more play.

it sounds like they have a lot of pent up energy. Why dont you try to either take them on walks, or playing fetch with them maybe they need more than just being let out in the yard. My german shepherd is very distructive in the house so we started playing fetch with her for twenty minutes twice a day. That is the only thing that has kept her chewing at bay. I wish you luck

I love huskys, but this is one of the reasons I would not buy one,I went to a lot of shows, and spoke to a lot of breeders who all told me the same, they are very destructive, they cannot be let off lead, and males can be quite feisty with other males,so whilst I would love to own one, these breed traits are not for me,apparantly they are very mischievious,so I think bones etc whilst great initially get quite boring for them
sorry I was of no use, just wanted to comment
GOOD LUCK THOUGH

I,ve got the exact same problem as you, i,ve also got a siberian husky and he chewed up my bed yesterday and all my make up , the only advice i can give they love plastic bottle's and stuffed toy's, so when they bored they chew them up rather than every thing else.

First off let me say how much I respect you for not opting to just get rid of them. My puppy chews so much too. I have just about given up , have you talked to a vet? or tried obedience training? I wish you good luck and just wanted to acknowledge teh act that you are a responsible pet owner!
