lockers are school property and owned by the school giving them legal right to search

safety of all students (not just violence but drugs, too)

if you're not hiding anything then it shouldn't be an issue....really, what could be in a locker? books? jacket? hairbrush? mirror? what's the big deal?

they search your luggage before you board a plane.....just think of Columbine and the numerous other schools that have experienced violence....I wonder if random locker searches would have prevented these tragedies

(1)Violence in schools has dramatically risen and random locker searches can help deter kids from bringing weapons to school.
(2)Drugs are also a big problem facing the teen population, searches will uncover any drugs and the proper actions can be taken against those students.
(3)Although students may consider it an invasion of privacy, these searches can give school officials a better look into what is going on in the students lives. This can help them relate better to the students as well as find early signs of trouble, depression, or any other problem that can be resolved with the proper help.

Sorry I can't think of a 4th one off the top of my head...

Drugs
Weapons
Destruction of school property
Porn

There are more (some even better) good reasons for it, but can't think of anymore at the time.

Try this, if they check your lockers (like some schools do) with the police dog that slobbers everywhere, even on the students, put a bowl or opened bag of dog food in your or one of your friends lockers.

Well, first, to NOT do that, encourages students to hide stuff, cause it empowers them to. SEcond, nowadays kids sometimes have dangerous things, guns, drugs, so it's not just about embarassing them anymore - it's a matter of public safety. Sorry, can only think of those two.
