And the said prophet DENIES it.

I mean look at the OT prophets, they don't say to people "Hear me...I am a prophet of God"

Instead OT prophets and John the baptist would say: "Thus said the Lord" or "hear the will of God"

It depends. Are you talking about what the people say at the time, or what they write that the people said decades after the "prophets" die? People are generally more generous about what their pet prophets said when a few decades have passed, especially when they are trying to get their own religion off the ground.

Probably the same way they reacted in the Old and New Testaments, Ostracisation , arrests, now mental institutions and even stoning. They couldn't except what they had to say. People just don't want to hear they are or could be wrong. The prophets wouldn't be any more accepted now than they were then.

The only prophets we have today are false prophets. 2 Corinthians 11: 13 For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into the apostles of Christ. The Word of God has been completed, nothing can be added or taken away. There is no need for prophets today. Revelation 22: 18 For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book:

I think that anyone that has a good relationship with God would be able to recognize a true prophet. I am not sure how - but I agree with you about them not coming out and saying, "I am a prophet."

I also think there would be tons of none believers and they would all go to hell - unless they begged God for forgiveness on their deathbeds.

Hopefully the government wouldn't try to kill the prophet - although I suspect they would do something negative to him/her (most likely him ;) )

There will be the same confusion as before. People will shun, ridicule, and persecute that prophet. True believers in God will listen to the prophet's teachings whether he is a prophet or not.

I believe that things must pass for prophets to be accepted. Now, as in the time of Christ, prophets are disbelieved.
Christ died and was sanctified by God so that enough People would believe his statements.

Many a Saint (Martyr) died and was only Canonized upon the realization upon the belief in divine acceptance.
Refer to Saint George among others.

Christ stated that he was "King of the Jews" - the very words that the Jewish ministry and Roman Government feared. He died by these words.

Each Apostle of Jesus, as well as all of the disciples, met similar fates.

Prophets of GOD, like painters, realize appreciation for their work upon their deaths.

Most likely, they (we) will act like people have acted towards prophets for thousands of years; some will listen but most will ridicule or stone or string up the prophet. Sorry, human nature doesn't change too much.

well if there were another prophet then he would probably act comparably with the OT prophets because the same spirit will move him and he will just skip to thus sayeth the Lord. and if interrogated will just say something along the lines of "check and see if what i say is in line with Gods word... if it is then what do you say i am? if it is not then what do you say i am?

but he would probably be killed

Most people would think the person was nuts. True believers however may think differently. It would all depend on what the "prophet" said. If what was said was in line with the teaching of God (according to the Bible in my case), I would tend to think it was possible but would ask God to show me the truth. He does...always....if you really are willing to accept his answer.

Religions are steadfast in their ways and are resistant to change. If a prophet showed up the religions would call them a liar and a fake.
