First if the people behind this could do such a thing they would tap on all singapore telephone lines before doing that to a foreign country. Two forces at work ... the suspicion of Singapore's intention by Thailand and the troublemakers who stroke the fire in Singapore.

No. I am in that business and the phone company has to be in on any phone tapping scheme (all calls get routed thu the phone company's switches - this is where phone tapping occurs). So it can only happen if the thai phone cpmpany agrees to let Singapore tap its phone - which is not likely (except AIS is part owned by a Singapore company I think??).

This is not possible. This was the concern raised by Australians when Singtel buys into Australia telcos market too. It was eventually noted that the technology can only reside in the country with the telco equipment, and not remoted out. The main regulators are still in the country, as to how the company will function.
Thais should understand this too. Frivolous claims, especially by people in position can hurt the country and relation with others.
