People with fever often have chills, and want to cover up with layers upon layers of clothes and blankets. You shouldn't do this, as it just contains the heat. A single sheet is best, and a tepid bath.

You would feel like the room is colder than usual and get the chills easily.

Your body would be hot to the touch, though.

Whenever I get sick and have a fever, I use lots of blankets and my husband tells me it's already too hot in the room, but with a fever it feels chilly!!! What helps is Tylenol for the fever, and a nice bowl of chicken soup to warm me up! Yum!

In my own case, I get cold chills. This would happen as soon as my temperature went over 100 degrees. You would have to get me blankets (and a fever-reducing med) so I could "sweat out" the fever.

I have heard that some people start feeling hot, and do actually get into cold baths, etc. to reduce their fevers. That goes against everything I was taught in my childhood, and the childhoods of my children. It must be a good thing to do in some cases, though, as I've been told it's been done in hospitals in certain cases.

Many people feel cold when they have fever; it's very individual, however. When a person has a high fever, they need to be cooled down, even though the room may FEEL too cold to them subjectively. Ice is too sudden in many situations; it is better to bathe the person's limbs with tepid water to create "artificial sweat" so that their body cools relatively naturally. If a person's temperature goes get to 104, it's almost certainly time to call 911 and get them to the hospital, as high temperatures can be very dangerous, especially to adults.

Actually you can feel both~You may feel clammy or warm but have a sudden sensation of being incredibly cold. Clammyness and shivering may occur. Basically you will feel cold because your body has hormones that try to keep your body temperature as close to its norm as possible. If you are feeling really warm help your body but getting in a cool shower! ~not cold (it may shock your system.) Go with how you feel~ sometimes wrapping up in a blanket and sweating out your fever will work and break the cycle! I hope you feel well soon!

You will get hot and cold hot and cold. The last thing you want to do is use blankets. Instead take Motrin as prescribed every 6-8 hours. Ice baths are uncomfortable and not necessarry. Motrin will work in about 20-30 minutes.

If you have a fever you may feel hot. However, you also may have a chill which makes you feel cold and you shiver uncontrollably at times.

Treat the symptoms. If you feel too hot try to cool down and if you have a chill cover up. If you can tolerate Tylenol or Advil, you could take one of these to help control your fever.

when you have a fever, your internal temperature rises, making the air around you seem colder than it would normally. when you feel hot, it means your temperature is between normal and high. You are warm inside but not as much a difference.

when you feel cold and shivery, you will want a million blankets. ideally cold will bring down the temperature but you have to be careful of shock (you body can't handle going from hot to cold) so maybe lots of blankets and a cold face cloth

however, aceteminephine (tylenol) will bring down a fever.

ps-
ibeprofen (advil) and ASA (asprin) will NOT bring down a fever

Your "skin" would feel hot and "you" would feel cold.

A blanket would be nice, but not too heavy so the heat from my fever can escape from the blanket.
