make sure it looks polished...black something you would wear with a suit not your surfer dude quicksilver beannie
but usually it is customary as a sign of homage or respect a gentleman takes off his hat/beanie

No not really. Your vanity is no reason for disrespect at the funeral and indoors anyway, no hats. Be bold and endure the funeral and then slap the beanie on as soon as you leave.

It's ok as long as it's a dark solid color. Just make sure the rest of your outfit is funeral wear.
Take it off when your inside.

Absolutely. It doesn't need to be one of those ones with the pompom on the top, but you could get a plain knitted black one, or something. That would be fine.

actually no... man are not suppost to wear anything on their head while a prayer is been held,,, go bold,, put the beannie on when outside,, or you can always buy a wig??? but not when praying,,alright.....
