Why do people have sex at an early age?
1) Peer pressure
2) Curiosity
3) Raging hormones
4) Influenced by TV, movies Internet & magazines (ha! just pick up ANY magazine and look at the titles of the articles on the cover!)
5) Poor judgment and reasoning skills (which is typical for a teenager's brain)
6) Rebelliousness
7) Parents are neglectful
8) Parents setting a poor example (they go off with their own BF or GF to have sex)
9) Girls lack of good father figure, thus seek attention from guys and will do anything for "love"
10) a combination of any or all of the above

There could be a million reasons why a person would have sex at an early age.
From something as simple as a not understanding what is really happening to the possibility that they were molested as a child and it's how they relate to people of the opposite sex.
Knowledge is power. Having sex at an early age really isn't healthy for most people.

you cannot blame a parent for their childrens' mistakes. My parents raised me and my brother the same way: No sex until you're married, but, if you do, use protection, but we'd rather you just didn't; and yet and still i have been very tempted on numerous occasions to just "give it up", and my brother totally lost control, and now has a son and sees why our parents said what they said. I am proud to say that i am still a virgin, but it isn't easy, if you're horny and you have some cute horny dude asking you if you wanna do it, every inch of your body is telling you yes, while your mind is repolaying over and over what your parents said. And for me it works, but i think that that is because i am a bit more strongwilled than most, (and that is what usually gets me into more trouble), but on this certain topic, it doesnt'. Like the other person said, it's hormones, they are driving us up the wall. Now I have other friends that feel it is okay, because they are on birth control and they use condoms, but the way i see, it just isn't okay, because that little 99.9% just isn't enough reassurance for me, i need the whole 100%, or nothing at all.

Sex is good. Sex is fun! Sex is a natural part of existence, like eating, but less frequent (hopefully). When people start to become adults, they start to experience the drive to have sex. So they have sex, which satisfies that drive. This is very similar to hungry people electing to eat. Food sustains the individual, sex sustains the species, and good times are had by all (except for the illiterate poster of this question who took a vow of chastity and seems quite angry about life in general).

If you feel you are for it then why not. If there is love then I don't really see the problem. But after it all depends on the age of the 2. Before 16 is a bit to early.
Sometimes it is a way to impress your friends : "Yeah I did it already".
It is all a question of society. 200 hundred years ago, having sex at a young age was normal, after getting married of course. Today it is not.

I think it's crazy!! I'm only 22 so I'm not that old. one of my friends in high school lost her virginity in 8th grade and everyone thought she was the devil. The whole school hated her because she had sex at such a young age. Now it's like the cool thing to do is to have sex at like 10. I don't understand it but it's out of control and I wish there was something we could do about it, but the hormones are obviously more out of control then they used to be and there's nothing we can do about it. I think there's a lot of pressure on younger people to have sex too. Everyone's doing it, so I think a lot of kids think they have to do it so that their friends won't give them a hard time.

With a world population of almost 6 billion and there being hundreds of different cultures regarding sex, there is no one easy or correct answer. Some Arab, Asian, and African cutlures still marry off girls at the age of even 10.So would a 10 year old "wife" who does not even yet have mature breasts or pubic hair be considered as having sex at an early age??
Another way of answering is because humans always love exploring new things simply because its there!

Its not completely about parental teaching. When you get to a certain age, your curious and your hormones are fired up. However, sometimes sex is great in the moment, but there are consequences that are unforseen.

I know I'm still a kid but I've been responsible so far and so have my siblings (that wierds me out that I know that! D:). I think its much better if parents talk to their kids about sex and discourage it but also encourage them to use safety if suddenly it becomes unavoidable.
Its just not talked about enough. Still a taboo subject perhaps?

well i think that there parents don't talk to them about sex and when they finally find out what sex is all about they dont stop. I know if my mom or dad would have talked to me i would not be here right now for another acouple of years. yea i am with the love of my life now but i would of been so eger to have sex if my parents would have talked to me
