Most likely you had elevated liver enzymes. Usually the doctor will retest these after 6 weeks and if they are still elevated he/she may order an ultrasound. An ultrasound will reveal if its fatty liver or not. I had it done and it showed a mild case of fatty liver. I lost 15 pounds and the next time I had liver enzymes done they were normal.
Sometimes if you take a pain reliever close to when you have liver enzymes done, it may falsely raise your liver enzymes. You want to have liver enzymes tested when you haven't had any pain relievers recently, as they will give you a false positive.
Sounds like you are doing what you can to lose weight. If you have fatty liver his will help. I think I'd get the ultrasound just as a precaution, but if you decide to hold it off at least retest your liver enzymes in a couple of months. If they are still elevated, get the ultrasound asap.

Yes you should go and get the test done. It is good you are trying to get healthy now and it will help you, but you have a bad liver now. so you are going to have a Dr tell you if there is anything else you can do to help the situation any. I know how it is I have no health care so when something goes wrong I have to pay everything out of pocket. Life is to short as it is, it is you life that you can save if you just get the test.

The test your doctor ordered is important to see the physical makeup of your liver without doing a biopsy. If there are blockages etc. he needs to know.
Ask your doctor what he will do if he finds something abnormal and base your need for the test from the information he gives you.
If he says the test will not affect his course of action then it is unnecessary.
Diet and exercise is very important and there are some natural medicine beneficial to liver function. I would seek out a qualified naturapathic physician.
Best of luck to you!

It is absolutely important that you have the scan.
You liver is (apart from your heart) the most important organ in you body.
It performs 'ALL' the filtering of toxins, and balances you hormones.
It cleanses the blood.
If your doc said you have abnormal liver function tests, do it,
just get the scan done. It may save your life!!

Hey the most inportant filter you have is your liver. Eat green veggies. Dark green and orange veggies. Water is your best friend. As for the cost of your scan that sounds pretty cheap for a medical issue.I realize having no income is hard but, your intake of food will help greatly, and exercise .

Let's just say that a Liver transplant is a lot more expensive than $185.00.
You kinda need your Liver... It cleans your blood, among the 100 other things that it needs to be healthy to do!
