y are they all old English font? (besides names just being stupid?)

They're not, you can choose any font you want. I don't like full words either, but I have a tattoo that includes initials (not in old English font).

Most are in that font as they are written english but also decorative. They can be done however you choose. Chinese or any other language you like. Mine will be done in scripted writing not old english

My letters are in the traditional american style. i knowa ton of people who have different types of lettering, Old English fonts are just more popular.

They are different. My husband & I used that font but i wish i would have spoken up and not done it.

i've got lettering, but it's my mother's writing...although i totally agree and living in south Texas i see the old english last names all the time. and hate it.

Lettering can be in any style you like.
A good artist can even copy your own
handwriting.
