Three of us share an office and one woman talks a lot and mumbles. It's so irritating, like a mosquito buzzing in your ear all day. We have told her very nicely that it really bothers us. She mumbles to herself, which is very distracting, and if she isn't mumbling she is talking - all the time. Never shuts her mouth. What can we do? We have to share the room with her, and we have told her about this problem two times already. She gets very offended but has not changed. We just want her to stop mumbling, and to limit her talking some.

Tell your boss that her mumbling to herself is VRY distracting and you need the boss to talk to her about it. Tell Boss you've tried twice, with no luck. It's probably a bad habit she can't stop, but when it irritates others, it's a problem.

Sounds like she might have a problem mentally...?? Can you or do you have music playing in your office? Sometimes if you play some nice music this type of person might tend to listen to the tunes rather than chit chat..... good luck.

She may really not be aware of just how much she does it, or she might not be able to control it. Perhaps you could listen to music while working or request a change of offices.

Is there another department that you can work in?

Try telling the boss, about the problem, maybe he or she can come up with a solution.
