The truck may be leaking from the heater core. It will typically begin to leak into the cabin itself (on the floorboard of the passenger seat). Feel the carpet at the top most area of the passenger side and check to see if it is wet. If it is, it is your heater core. I've had two vehicles have the same smell and shortly began to leak in the same area.

i assume you mean truck not trunk since it does not have one lol

it is a leak in the heater core- the coolant runs in to a mini radiator( heater core) under the dash which blows air over it and make heat for your feet.. often at this age cars develop leaks in the heater core.. that is what you are smelling..a drop inside the heater- even if it is not on the coolant sitl circulates there

Make sure that there is no antifreeze in the engine,[just pull the dipstick] also the water pump could be going bad,[if it is you will not see a puddle nor will it over heat right away, there is a little escape hole in the bottom of the water pump that will let enough of the antifreeze out to turn into vapors, but not enough to leave a mess].

It could be he spilled it on the engine.... look carefully under the hood and engine, look for any signs of leaks. Before you start it open the radiator and see if it is low. Start it and look to see it white smoke comes out the exhasut, this means it is burning coolant. That is a good price for the truck, and they are very good trucks.

if you smell anti-freeze it is leaking from somewhere. You will need to have a mechanic or radiator shop perform a pressure test of the cooling system to find the leak prior to buying. If it is a head gasket or cracked block it could be expensive.
