They're are not the same. If MasterCard was the only thing that popped up, then you need to get one in order to purchase it.

That's weird, I've never seen a place that takes one but not the other since virtually everyone has a Visa, Master card, or Discover card for a bank debit card. But no, you can't use your Visa in this case.

No, because if it was the same, then it would be visa debit and visa debit.
If it's asking for a mastercard, that is what you'd need to make your purchase with. If you don't believe me, try making the purchase with your visa debit and it would decline...you can't use a visa debit card number with a mastercard credit merchant.

Mastercard is a credit card - simply you buy something and then get a bill later to pay for it. A Visa debit card - you buy something and this money leaves your bank account normally within 24 hours.

It has to be a MasterCard since that is the only option. Both cards work the same, but are given by different (competitive) companies. You can use them the same, except that you can only use them where the Visa and MasterCards are accepted.
