Hi All,

I am getting married in the Summer and my fiance and I are up to our necks planning the big event. One of things we are organising at the moment is the flowers.

My fiance wants a nice boquet, along with smaller ones for the 2 bridesmaids, then there is table decorations for 8 tables at the afternoon reception.

After visiting a florist, she has come back to us with a quote of around £350 - does this sound reasonable ?

Any opinions appreciated.

Remember you will have to buy buttonholes (like carnations) for the groom, best man and ushers.

In Scotland we usually buy buttonholes for the parents and grandparents of the bride and groom as well.

Also, do you want flowers to decorate the church?

But for what you have listed, that's not a bad price. Maybe a little on the high side, but ok. (But of course I don't know how big the bouquets and table pieces are, so I'm in the dark!)

I agree it all depend on how many flowers and flower arrangements you need and also what types of flowers. Some more exotic flowers or flowers that are not in season will be more expensive. Depending on how large and what type of flowers for your bouquet you can expect to spend $200-$500. You may be able to get a package that includes the bridesmaids bouquets, plus your bouquet and the boutonnieres for the groomsmen and groom. You will also need corsages for the mothers, and anyone who may be doing a reading or anyone else that is involved. Also boutonnieres will be needed for the fathers. If you are having a ringbearer and flower girl you can't forget them. You may want to consider getting a basket and using the silk petals for the flower girl. You can find these at any craft store. you could cut this down by using single rose presentations instead of actual bouquets for the bridesmaids or single presentations for the mothers. If when you meet with the florist their prices seem too high or they seem too pushy etc. Then do not sign anything. Get the information and look around some more before you make your decision. Good luck!

Congratulations.!!!!!
That's very inexpensive for a couple of bouquets and 8 table decorations. I would ask the florist to show or describe what she/he will be doing. Also ask what kind of flowers will be used in the bouquet. This will give you an idea of what you will be getting on for the quote. On the day of the wedding, sometimes brides are disappointed because it was not what they imagined. If possible show the florist clippings and pictures of what you would like. It really helps out everyone.

Roses are the least expensive flowers to use in a wedding. I know there are far less expensive flowers out there like carnations and mums but I would never suggest them to my clients.

Good Luck and best wishes.

Jennifer

I was able to get my flowers for much cheaper than your quote. I think the price range started at US$30 per table (and they were NOT skimpy) and went up from there based on what kind of flowers you choose. Some florists I heard about would even offer better deals if you were ok with cheaper flowers, such as carnations, etc. The bouquets for the wedding party were much more per piece.

If you want real flowers it will be more expensive. I only spent $100 on my wedding flowers. I bought rubber and silk ones. I have 5 bridesmaids, 2 junior bridesmaids, 2flower girls, a ton of corsausages and boutineers, and then of course the alter bouquet and the table decorations. My bouquest are huge too. Find some deals.

I had silk flowers at my wedding. My bouquet cost around £60 and it was probably another £80 for 80 button holes, 7 Table decorations and 1 bridesmaid bouquet.

The great thing about having silk flowers is that they keep, and we gave the tables decs to my Nans, Aunties etc.

sounds good, it does cost alot for the flowers but its what makes everything pop. It just wouldnt be complete without great looking flowers. You could look for larger flowers for the table decor so you dont have to use as many, or you could use some greenery and use less flowers, the colour will pop out more on the flowers against the green stems, and you wont have to buy as many.

Probably as this woman is making a living. Can you not have a o at making your own flowers? Decorating tables is easy and for yourself maybe one rose, one lily, would look so good....Have a go yourself...you can save a lot of money....Even get other family members to join in. At least ask them!
