I have a new puppy (female) which I bought as a companion and friend for my other dog (male).
My male is such a sweet calm and friendly dog. I am now afraid that the female will corrupt the male into protecting her and make him aggressive.

I have many friend that have female dogs and them and my male have always got along famously but yesterday, the puppy was attacking my friends dog. This got my male upset and he snapped at my friends dog... He did not bite but you could tell he was protecting the puppy.

I never even thought of this and I am very worried that she will ruin his beautiful nature!!

Any suggestions?

I would keep the socialization less complex until the puppy learns manners. Taking both dogs to open classes could be a great way of socializing them together and getting some training skills in for the puppy. The male dog was protecting the puppy but also it is the pack mentality he could also be jelouse of the attention the puppy was giving this other dog.

give them toys to play with like a stuff animal so they wont fight
this was natural for the dog to do this, but next time have toys so they will play tug of war instead of biting attitudes.
keep water for dogs at all times.

separation could help. Especially when taking them outside. Take the puppy out first by herself than take the other dog out.

well dogs are just human beings and they are just like brothers and sisters so the male didnt know they were playing so he jump in and helped. of course if someone was fightin your sister or brother or any relatives you would have their backs to. so dogs are just like human beings so dont get freaked out.

Mine do the same thing but the males always grow out of it. Its just because she is just a baby and he doesnt want her to get hurt.
