Where did the word English come from? and why?

It comes from the word Angle, the name of the people who conquered the Ancient Britons and pushed them into Cornwall, Wales and Scotland. The oldest form of English was Anglo-Saxon. it was the language of the engles in starting in 1066 when olde english was complete.
