I used invisalign a couple years ago. My teeth were pretty straight, but I'm a dental hygienist so I wanted them perfect. I had consultations at 2 different offices and both dentists said i "was the perfect candidate for invisalign".They cost me $3500...which was at a discount since I am in the profession. (The dentist I didn't choose quoted me $7000.) I was told that they would take 9 months. After a year with no results they put traditional brackets on my lower teeth which worked. After 2 1/2 years with them on my top teeth I gave up. They weren't helping. I was very compliant with wearing them and only took them out to eat, brush and floss.

My advice to you as an Invisalign wearer and dental hygienist...
Only get them if you have minimal corrections to be made especially if it involves extra spacing. They do not work well for crowded teeth, rotated teeth or teeth that have grown out a little too much.

As far as payments go...I paid up front so they gave me a 10 % discount, otherwise they would do monthly payments. I'm sure it's similar at other offices too.

Hope that helps!

When I went to the dentist to have my wisdom teeth cut out he said I needed braces. I told him that I knew that and I had been thinking of invisalign. He said they would not work for me. That they were for teeth that needed minor corrections done. My top teeth are pretty straight but my bottom ones overlap a little for over crowding.. lol. I told him I had these ugly teeth for 24 years, I had 2 kids to worry about their teeth now.

NO!! my mum is a orthodontist and she recomends the traditional braces..I have tried the Invisalign "braces" and they only made my teeth a little straighter so I got the traditional braces.and they made my teeth PERFECT! and with the Invisalign you have to have them on a few years longer than if you had the normal braces (thats if you have severe teeth)..Please don't waste your money on Invisalign and get normal braces..they work faster and you can see the results. Hope I helped :)
