facebook friend requests?

Question

I tried to add someone on facebook, is there a way to know to find out if the person read the request?
I was thinking about sending another request, but im afraid maybe the person just dons't want to add me? do people decline?? is there a setting for that in that you get notified if your denied?

i am not sure about how to change the settings to see if the person accepted or declined. if you still are not added either
1. the person declined you
2. the person has not added or declined you. may have forgotten to.
3. wait a little while and request again. you can also msg the person and say hey i requested you.. if still nothing. move on. the person has declined u .
