The Catholic position on sexuality is patently absurd. In fact, it is criminally stupid, because people die from following the tenets of the Church. H. sapiens is one of very few species in which the female is sexually receptive at all times, and the evolutionary benefit of this is obvious: it keeps the family together, so that the young may be nurtured to adulthood.

I applaud the Church for holding fast to it's Doctrine condemning all artificial means of birth control.
Think of it this way: if the ends involve not getting pregnant, why can't the means include abstinence? - especially when you consider the fact that no artificial means of birth control is 100% effective. Abstinence, on the other hand, is 100% guaranteed not to produce a pregnancy.
For those who think sex is some sort of civil right, there are natural forms of birth control that can be employed. While the effectiveness of natural birth control depends on the diligence of the couple, they are morally acceptable to the Church.

I believe that Jesus Christ through the Catholic Church calls husband and wife to enter into a deeper love than modern culture endorses.
The modern world focuses on the "Eros Love" which is the physical aspects of conjugal relations. Some may say it is simply lust of body reactions.
The Christian or Christ centered world focuses on the "Agape Love" which is the act of loving to the point of sacrificing self to the other completely. Think Jesus love for all humanity. This Agape Love incorporates the human body and soul, with the physical and spiritual aspects of Complete Love.
To allow God in the marital act, the husband and wife allow for God to change their love to father and mother and share in the creation of the world with God.

i just respect their decision on becoming nuns and priests. before they've entered the convent and seminary, they knew the rules, and the fact that they've entered nonetheless, it is assumed that they agree with the rules. they were never misled in thinking they could get married when they chose their vocation and then later find out they couldn't. it's just a matter of choice on their part, and nobody's forcing them to become nuns and priests.

Judeo-Christian tradition has taught for thousands of years:
+ Single people should be celibate.
+ Married people should be faithful to each other (adultery is wrong).
+ Married couples should welcome God's gift of children and, therefore, artificial birth control was against the will of God.
In regards to sex outside of marriage, the Church makes it a practice not to tell people how to sin.
With love in Christ.
