The cross is the only thing that means much to me, because it is what saved my life. Forget the details- life was unbearable, and I never did drugs, or stole, or anything really wrong. I picked up the cross, went for help, and had a hormone imbalance about set up to overwork my organs and kill me!
Yeah, I've been saved by a metaphor.
And that was it.
And it reminds me almost everyday to keep my head up. To go it alone if I have to, when no one understnads, when no one will help, and when the burden is way too heavy and not even deserved.
That is what gets us through, so that we can survive and then take care of others.
And the sacrifice he allegedly made, for "our sins", that is a sign of mercy, and a sign of what we should do for each other. Be merciful. Be giving. Be forgiving, even of the murderer who repents.
And yes, eventually, when you do your own cross bearing, there will be someone who helps you carry it.
As long as you are bearing it up, you will receive that love from somewhere.
And then, there is the whole notion of death and rebirth. Resurrection is a new form of the old rebirth, theme, relatively speaking.
The moon used to be used for this.
Samhain and the turning of the wheel used to be used for this.
The phoenix is still a symbol of this.
It means- if you fall into a state so bad you can't fix it, let it go.
There is life after failure.
There is new and better life when you finally lay that old dead horse to rest.
Do all you can! Let it go!
There is life after this hell you're in.
There is hope, there is love, tere is peace!
And I don't even call myself christian anymore.
I'm just a woman with a life-saving metaphor.
Yes, if "Jesus" were to come down here, he'd say we got it alright.

I don't think He has a problem with the cross, per se, because it has become the symbol of what He did, the price He paid, for our souls.
The problem lies in the cross with Jesus still nailed to it. After all, He is no longer on the cross and He is risen. But this is just my opinion.
I think He has more important things to be concerned about than crosses. Many believers are falling away and many are doing their own things and believing that they are still saved, still under His covering and still going to Heaven. He's more concerned with souls than the things around necks or on walls.
If you're praying to the cross, yeah, then you have problems.

Good question. Personally I prefer the fish- a symbol of life not death. I think if He came back He'd really prefer seeing that we were all acting nicely to each other and He won't be paying so much attention to what we wear for jewelry.

I don't think He'll care that much, because He's smart enough to know what people mean by it.
But actually in my Christian faith we don't use crosses as a symbol for the very reason that we like to focus on the living Christ, rather than the dying Christ.

Yes it probably would.
I think more people really deface the meaning of the cross in a lot of ways.
However, there is a purpose for the wearing of the cross. Because no longer is it a symbol of pain and suffering but of the glouries riches we recieve from the the death and RESSURECTION of Jesus.
The Cross is a daily reminder that we too need to be willing to Follow God's Will even unto Death. (Phil. 2)

Why do you care how I dress or what I wear? I don't go around knocking you down, whether you're an atheist or not. I'm one of those that tried my best to love and accept everyone just for what they are; that's just common moral sense. Do you lack both?

I don't think He would be bothered by the reminders but would likely be bothered by the people who wore the Cross without ever living like He died for them.

What ddo you mean when he comes back?
He doesn't approve of them now!
Exodus 20:4 You must not make yourself a carved image
Jeremiah 51:17 Every man has behaved so unreasoningly as not to know. Every metalworker well feel ashamed because of the carved image; for his molten image is a falsehood and there is no spirit in them.

That question to me is like asking, "Should we have crosses in Christian churches?" Rethink about it. The cross was once a bad thing, but after Jesus sacrificed himself for us, it's not. It's a sign of our forgiveness of sins.

Christians: Do you actually think Jesus' COMPLETELY rotted corpse from 2000 years ago will prop itself up grow back flesh and hair and start walking again? Sounds pretty....... what's the word I'm looking for. IMPOSSIBLE.
